Anna Munro, LICSW

You’re tired of struggling.

You’re in the right place.

Maybe you’ve been wanting to change things for a while but you’re realizing you can’t do it alone. You’re looking for someone who can motivate you and help you get traction to move in the direction you want to go.

As a therapist, I work best with clients who are looking for a collaborative relationship through which we can find the best approaches and solutions. I keep it real with my clients – I won’t just tell you what you think you want to hear. As I am not invested in your life in the same way your friends and family are, I can offer an objective and non-judgmental perspective. I offer guidance and direction but ultimately this is your space and you can decide at what pace you want to progress.

Sessions are offered on a weekly or biweekly basis, though I also have monthly check-ins with long-term clients. You may benefit from short-term work to address a specific issue or practice a particular skill.  Or, you might find that you need ongoing support to manage chronic symptoms or challenges. Either way, I’m here for you.

What it’s like
to work with me

You’ve got goals and motivation to achieve them – so what’s missing?

If you’ve been struggling alone or the advice you’re taking from others in your life (or on social media) doesn’t seem to make a difference, you should know there’s another way.

We can work together to find your path to progress – first by identifying your goals, uncovering any barriers, and developing tools to conquer those challenges. I know how hard it is to make proactive changes in your life and want you to know that I can be there to support you along the way. Together we can explore what’s been holding you back and clear the path forward to help you develop and grow in the direction of your goals.

I want you to feel understood and seen but I also want you to know that I know what I’m talking about

I have more than 15 years of experience as a clinical social worker. My training includes nearly 10 years working in the Division of Alcohol, Drugs and Addiction at McLean Hospital, serving adults receiving residential substance use treatment at McLean Naukeag and McLean Fernside. I have been in independent private practice since 2016 helping adults with histories of addiction, ADHD, trauma, anxiety and depression find relief from their pain and joy in their lives.

I am a therapist but I’m a human first – one who has experienced and overcome challenges of my own and one who is willing to sit with you while you grow through yours.

Clients describe me as approachable, warm, and non-judgmental while at the same time direct. I don’t hesitate to help them hold themselves accountable so that they can experience real change.  I help clients work on their boundaries while appreciating the need to maintain the important relationships in their lives and to deal with a mix of complicated emotions. I make it clear that I have expertise without being condescending. Humor can be a healthy tool – when used appropriately – and I’m not afraid to laugh (a lot) in sessions. My clients know that I am here for them but that I also trust them to use their strengths and skills on their own.
